Keywords
A keyword is a search term for which sellerfox checks daily where your workspace's products appear on the first page of Amazon results. You add the term once per marketplace; sellerfox then measures every product in your workspace that ranks for it.
Keywords live in two separate places in the Dashboard. The “Keywords” page in the sidebar defines which terms sellerfox tracks; that page shows no ranks. You read the measured ranks in the Keyword KPI tables under Dashboard → Products → Keyword KPIs and Product detail → Keyword KPIs.
Only Owners and Admins see “Keywords” in the sidebar and can change the list. Viewers can still see the Keyword KPI tables. See the Permissions matrix for details.
Add tracked keywords
- Open “Keywords” in the sidebar, then choose “Edit keywords”.
- Choose one active marketplace.
- Enter exactly one term per line. sellerfox trims leading and trailing spaces, lowercases every term, and drops duplicates and blank lines.
- Under “Check your changes”, review the added and removed terms and the number of credits that remain free after saving.
- Choose “Save keywords”.
One keyword on one marketplace uses one credit. The same term on three marketplaces therefore uses three credits. See Subscription, billing & credits → Credits for your allowance and current usage.
sellerfox saves additions and removals together. If you have no credits left, you can therefore delete old terms and add new ones in the same save. sellerfox counts only the final list.
sellerfox measures a new term for the first time on the following day. It does not backfill data from before you added the term. See the keyword-ranking schedule for the collection window.
Mark a keyword as favorite
Select the star beside a keyword. The star is available both on the “Keywords” page and in every Keyword KPI table; either one marks the same keyword.
Favorites then appear at the top:
- in the Keyword KPI tables
- in the “Top 10: Keywords” Dashboard widget
- in the “Top 10: Keywords” section of a PDF report
Within the favorites and within the remaining keywords, sellerfox continues to sort by search volume. The star does not change the order on the “Keywords” page.
Removing a keyword also clears the favorite status.
Remove a keyword or resume it later
On the “Keywords” page, open “Edit keywords” again, delete the corresponding line, and save the change. The term stops using a credit, is no longer measured, and is no longer marked as a favorite. Its existing history remains stored.
If you later add the same term on the same marketplace, sellerfox resumes measuring it and restores the earlier history. The days without a measurement remain a gap in the trend.
Where to find the ranking data
The “Keywords” page lists only the tracked terms, not their ranks. The measured ranks are in these views:
| View | What you see there |
|---|---|
| Dashboard → Products → Keyword KPIs | Every tracked keyword, one row each. Expand a row to see the products that rank for that term. |
| Product detail → Keyword KPIs | Only the keywords this product ranks for, alongside the Product KPIs for the same ASIN. |
| “Top 10: Keywords” Dashboard widget | Up to ten keywords: favorites first, both groups sorted by descending “Monthly search volume”. |
On a product detail page, compare a ranking trend with the Product KPIs of the same ASIN in one chart:
A keyword appears in these views only if sellerfox recorded at least one position for it on the first page of results during the selected period. A missing row means that your product did not reach the first page on any day of that period.
See Products & product lists → Read Keyword KPIs for operating the tables: switching between “Latest data”, “Historical data Ø”, and “Time course”, adding rows to the chart, and charting a single ASIN.
How sellerfox calculates the three ranks
Once a day, sellerfox opens the first page of results for every tracked keyword on its marketplace and numbers the entries from top to bottom. It then matches those entries against the products in your workspace and stores three positions for each product it finds:
Ranking totalcounts every entry on the page, including the ad placements and the extra product rows that Amazon inserts between the results.Ranking organischcounts only the unpaid results.Ranking sponsoredcounts only the ad placements.
Not every rank exists on every day. If your product appears only organically, Ranking sponsored stays empty, and the other way around. If your product appears only in an inserted product row, only a Ranking total is recorded.
sellerfox records the exact ASIN that Amazon shows in the result, which is often a child variation rather than its parent.
Example: four ad placements above the organic results
| Entry on the first results page | Ranking total | Ranking organisch | Ranking sponsored |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1st ad placement | 1 | – | 1 |
| 2nd ad placement | 2 | – | 2 |
| 3rd ad placement | 3 | – | 3 |
| 4th ad placement | 4 | – | 4 |
| 1st organic result | 5 | 1 | – |
| 2nd organic result | 6 | 2 | – |
| your product, 3rd organic result | 7 | 3 | – |
| 4th organic result | 8 | 4 | – |
Your product is third among the organic results but seventh on the page. For that day, sellerfox therefore stores Ranking organisch 3 and Ranking total 7. There is no Ranking sponsored, because the product did not appear on an ad placement.
Ranking total is not the better of the other two ranks
If your product appears both on an ad placement and organically on the same day, Ranking total uses the first position at which your product appears on the page. If the product in the example above also holds the fourth ad placement, the result is Ranking sponsored 4, Ranking organisch 3, and Ranking total 4 — not 3.
From the daily reading to the figure in the table
sellerfox summarizes the daily readings for the selected period. The standard KPIs average every reading in that period, across all days and across all of your products that were found for the term. The (best) variants use the lowest position measured in the period instead. In the Keyword KPI tables, KPI Overview with “Latest data” shows the most recent reading rather than an average.
Average rank of your products among unpaid results during the selected period. In alert emails, webhook payloads, and MCP responses, the same KPI is labeled "Ranking organic (Ø)".
Average rank of your products among ad placements during the selected period. In alert emails, webhook payloads, and MCP responses, the same KPI is labeled "Ranking sponsored (Ø)".
Average rank of your products across all entries in page order, including ad placements and inserted product rows, during the selected period. In alert emails, webhook payloads, and MCP responses, the same KPI is labeled "Ranking total (Ø)".
See the KPI Explorer for every ranking KPI with its exact label and definition.
What the SV badge shows
The SV badge appears in the Keyword KPI tables and in the applicable Top 10 and PDF displays, but not on the “Keywords” page.
The value comes from the monthly Search Query Performance Report and states how often that keyword was searched for during the reporting month. sellerfox always shows the most recent monthly report available for that term and marketplace, independent of the Dashboard date range. Hover over the badge to see which month the value covers.
SV: n/a means that no monthly report is available for that term and marketplace. See Data refresh schedule → Search Query Performance (SQPR) for when sellerfox requests monthly periods.
What a keyword alert can and cannot tell you
A KPI alert can monitor a tracked keyword on one marketplace. In the “Keyword” scope, choose a keyword KPI and a threshold; sellerfox notifies you as soon as the value reaches that threshold.
sellerfox does not attribute revenue to a keyword. You can chart ranking and product sales side by side, but that comparison does not tell you how much revenue the keyword produced. For Amazon's clicks, add-to-carts, and orders per search query, use the Search Term Analyzer instead.
