Amazon FBA Fees 2026: All Costs with an Example
Learn which FBA fees Amazon charges in 2026, what is left of a €24.99 sale price, and where you can see which fees Amazon actually charged.
If you sell with Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA), you pay several fees: a referral fee, an FBA fulfillment fee, storage fees and, depending on the situation, surcharges. This article shows which Amazon FBA fees apply on amazon.de in 2026, works through an example product and shows where you can see after the sale what Amazon actually charged.
Fee status: Amazon’s “Rate Card – Europe Fees”, effective July 1, 2026, including the festive season fees from October 15, 2026 to January 14, 2027, and Amazon’s pricing page (as of October 2026). All amounts apply to amazon.de. Amazon adjusts the fees regularly; check the current rate card before every calculation.
Which FBA fees does Amazon charge?
Selling plan: €39 plus VAT per month on the Professional selling plan, €0.99 plus VAT per item sold on the Individual selling plan.
Referral fee: a percentage of the total sales price including shipping and gift wrap, usually between 8% and 15%, with a minimum of €0.30 per item in most categories. The referral fee also applies when you ship orders yourself.
FBA fulfillment fee: a fixed amount per unit sold, based on size tier, weight and Amazon store.
Storage fee: charged monthly based on the average daily volume of your inventory, measured in cubic meters.
Surcharges and optional services: for example the storage utilization surcharge, the aged inventory surcharge, €0.10 per unit for products with lithium batteries and for dangerous goods, removal or disposal of inventory, and a returns processing fee for products with a high return rate.
Cost of goods, advertising costs and returns are not part of Amazon’s rate card, but belong in every calculation.
FBA fulfillment fee: size and weight decide
Amazon assigns every packaged, ready-to-ship unit to a size tier. Within the size tier, the weight determines the fee. Examples for amazon.de outside the festive season, with inventory stored in Germany only:
Standard envelope up to 33 × 23 × 2.5 cm and 460 g: €2.68
Small parcel up to 35 × 25 × 12 cm and 400 g: €3.39
Standard parcel up to 45 × 34 × 26 cm and 900 g: €3.44
Standard parcel up to 45 × 34 × 26 cm and 2.9 kg: €4.55
Since April 17, 2026, a 1.5% fuel and logistics surcharge applies on top. In the Central Europe Programme, where Amazon also stores your German inventory in Poland and the Czech Republic, the fulfillment fee drops by €0.26 per unit.
For parcels, most categories use the higher of unit weight and dimensional weight (length × width × height in centimeters divided by 5,000); envelopes use unit weight only. This boundary is often the biggest lever: if a 350 g product fits flat into a standard envelope up to 2.5 cm high, the rate card fee is €2.68 instead of €3.39 as a small parcel. During the festive season, the gap grows to €0.92 per unit.
Storage fees: much higher from October to December
Amazon charges storage fees monthly per cubic meter. For non-dangerous goods, these rates apply:
Standard size, most categories: €27.54 from January to September, €52.20 from October to December
Standard size in apparel, eyewear, footwear, backpacks and handbags: €19.99 and €29.23 respectively
Oversize: €21.78 and €34.49 respectively
If your inventory, measured against your shipments over the last 13 weeks, lasts for more than 22 weeks, the storage utilization surcharge applies on top: in Germany, €14.85 to €76.87 per m³ per month for standard size. New sellers in their first 52 weeks, Individual sellers, sellers with a very small storage volume, and apparel, eyewear, footwear and bags are exempt. From 241 days of storage, most categories also incur the aged inventory surcharge. Start new products with small quantities and clear slow-moving items in time.
Festive season: higher fulfillment fees for parcels
From October 15, 2026 to January 14, 2027, most parcels cost more in Germany: a small parcel up to 400 g costs €3.60 instead of €3.39, a standard parcel up to 900 g €3.66 instead of €3.44. Envelopes and oversize items stay the same. Together with the higher storage fees, the festive season is the most expensive time for FBA.
Low-Price FBA: a small advantage on the fulfillment fee
For small, lightweight products priced up to €20 including VAT, Amazon charges lower fulfillment fees. In some categories, such as Beauty, Books or Kitchen, the price limit is lower. Eligible products get the Low-Price FBA rates automatically; only the unit weight counts. A small parcel up to 400 g then costs €3.25 instead of €3.39. The example calculation shows whether the Low-Price FBA rates pay off.
Example calculation: what is left of €24.99
A jump rope in the Sports and Outdoors category sells on amazon.de for €24.99 including 19% VAT. The ready-to-ship box measures 25 × 15 × 5 cm and weighs 350 g. With a dimensional weight of 375 g, the jump rope is a small parcel up to 400 g. The inventory is stored in Germany only, for two months on average, outside the festive season. Cost of goods and advertising costs are assumptions; all costs are net.
Per unit | Amount |
|---|---|
Sale price incl. VAT | €24.99 |
− VAT (19%) | −€3.99 |
Net revenue | €21.00 |
− Referral fee (15% of €24.99) | −€3.75 |
− FBA fulfillment fee (€3.39 plus 1.5% surcharge) | −€3.44 |
− Storage fee (0.0019 m³ × €27.54 × 2 months) | −€0.10 |
− Cost of goods incl. freight and duties (assumption) | −€6.00 |
− Advertising costs per unit (assumption) | −€3.00 |
Margin per unit (22% of net revenue) | €4.71 |
The three Amazon fees total €7.29, about a third of net revenue. The selling plan, returns and discounts are not included yet.
During the festive season, the FBA fulfillment fee rises to €3.65 (€3.60 plus surcharge) and the storage fee to €0.20 (€52.20 per m³ per month). The margin drops to €4.40 (21%).
At €19.99 with Low-Price FBA rates, only €1.40 (8%) remains outside the festive season: €16.80 net revenue minus €3.00 referral fee, €3.30 fulfillment fee and €9.10 for storage, cost of goods and advertising. The Low-Price FBA rate saves €0.14 in fulfillment fees, but the lower price costs €4.20 in net revenue. To earn the same profit, you would need to sell more than three times as many jump ropes.
Amazon’s Revenue Calculator: good for forecasts
Amazon’s Revenue Calculator, often searched for as an FBA fee calculator, estimates the fees and costs for a product and compares FBA with fulfilling orders yourself. The Revenue Calculator does not know your actual advertising costs, returns or storage duration. So besides a realistic scenario, also calculate a cautious one with a lower price, longer storage, more returns and the festive season fees. If the cautious scenario leaves no margin, the product is not ready to launch yet.
After the sale: which FBA fees you actually paid
What Amazon actually charges only shows up in the settlement. The settlement differs from your calculation when Amazon classifies a product differently, inventory stays in storage longer or a surcharge is added.
sellerfox shows you the FBA fees that Amazon reports: Amazon’s fee estimate until settlement, then the final fees. sellerfox imports revenue, Amazon fees, advertising costs and reimbursements from Amazon. You enter your cost of goods (COGS) per SKU and marketplace.
Detail of the waterfall table in Profit Tracking: Amazon fees broken down into referral fee, FBA fees and other fees such as storage costs.
In the “Waterfall table” in Profit Tracking, you can expand the Amazon fees:
“Amazon Referral Fee” is the referral fee.
“FBA Fee” contains the FBA fees of your orders, mainly the fulfillment fee, by fee type. Estimated amounts appear in the row “FBA Fee (estimated)”.
“Other Amazon Fees” includes storage fees (“Storage Billing Fee”), long-term storage (“Long Term Storage Fee”) and reimbursements for lost or damaged inventory.
Clicking a subcategory such as “Storage Billing Fee” shows the individual entries, here the storage fees per marketplace.
Common mistakes when calculating FBA costs
Calculating with the list price and forgetting discounts or coupons
Underestimating advertising costs and returns
Overlooking the higher fees from October to January
Measuring the bare product instead of the ready-to-ship unit
Using outdated fees: Amazon has already reissued the rate card in February, April and July 2026
Conclusion: FBA fees are predictable when the calculation is complete
Amazon FBA fees consist of the referral fee, fulfillment fee, storage fees and surcharges. Each item depends on different levers: category, packaging, storage duration and season. Before launch, calculate with Amazon’s current rate card and a cautious scenario. Afterwards, check which fees were actually charged and adjust packaging, inventory and price.
